SAM3 Setup

So, you want to know how to setup Sam do you? Well, I've created this short tutorial to try and help you.

1st). Install SAM2. Why you ask? In order for SAM3 to work you need a MySql database installed on your system. SAM3 does not have one but SAM2 does. So, install version 2 and then install version 3 over it. Simple. Once installed, you then need to use the keygen to create a serial key that you will place in the Configuration under registration.

2nd.) Open SAM. It should have a basic layout. Using the Windows tab at the top, try to get the layout to look similar to this  (click to view)

3rd.) Once you have decided on the layout you prefer, go to the "Encoders" window. click on the + symbol (add new encoder) Choose MP3 and MP3Pro click okay. Another window opens and in format choose MP3: 64kb/s, 44.1 kHz,Stereo. Click on Server Details at top of window. In server type choose Shoutcast. In Server details put in the information Nite gave you

  • host : ss5.shoutzone.net

  • server port: 8173

  • password : (see Nite or one of the Taneest(a)s  also found in DJ section of forums)

In Station Details, put in

  • Station Name: F.U.Radio - DJ yourname (put your name in for yourname)

  • Genre: choose Various

  • Website URL: http://www.furadio.net

  • AIM: your AIM

  • ICQ: your ICQ (if you have it)

  • IRC Channel: N/A

  • click the following (if not checked) list on public and enable title streaming

click Okay.

Broadcasting

To be able to broadcast with SAM3 is simple. First off, it automatically seeks out ALL your music during the installation process. all you need to then is go to the Que window and add songs in the order you wish them played.. or create a playlist using winamp and save it, then add it in the que window in SAM.

Go to the encoder window and highlight the encoder you installed and then click on the > to start it. To stop it is simple.. highlight it and then click on the stop symbol (square) Sample of encoder here (click to view)

When encoder is running, click on the > button at the top of the complete window (the layout one) and it will automatically play.. to stop is ...well you get the picture. One of the other things you need to do is ensure you have it on Auto DJ.. this way it will crossfade right into the next song.. nice ehh?

Now we get to speaking part ...where you talk. In the Voice FX box, click on config first. Change music fadeout to 90%. This will automatically drop the volume of the music to allow you to talk over it. Say okay and click on  Mic on. You are now all set. To speak, simply click on Lock Talk and speak. If the volume of Mic is too low, use the volume control to raise it.

Now, after you have it all setup, go to File at top of page and click on Save Configuration .. it is all set and will be ready to go each and everytime you open it.

In closing, I am working on various PAL scripts that will allow for automatic play of things like promos and special season music and will make all these scripts available to DJs when they are tested and done. I'll create a tutorial for it when I am done creating them and testing them. For now, play with it, read on it, learn it.. the more you know about SAM3 the better you will be and the more professional sounding. Oh yea, IF you discover something new and that you feel might benefit others here, pass on the information ....Please
